The AI-Ready FAQ Page Checklist

AI tools already answer questions about your business. Your FAQ page decides what they say.

Someone asks an assistant whether you cover their area, what you charge, how soon you could start. It answers from whatever your website has published. This checklist is the 25 questions your FAQ page should answer, so the answer they get is yours.

What an AI can say about you

Same business, same question. The only thing that changes is what its FAQ page publishes.

Asked

“Do they cover my area, and what will it cost?”

Answered

Based on their website, they’re a painting contractor. I can’t tell you what they charge no pricing published or confirm they work in your area no service area published. You would have to contact them and ask what happens after that no process published.

3 gaps Pricing · Service Area · Process & Timeline

Based on their FAQ page, they’re a painting contractor covering Greater Manchester and 25 miles around it. Interior repaints start at £450 a room, quoted after a free on-site visit. Get in touch and they book a walkthrough within three working days, then send a fixed quote within 48 hours.

Three of the twenty-five

Quoted from the checklist word for word. The other 22 are in the PDF.

  1. Process & Timeline

What happens after I contact you? Walk through it step by step.

Most sites stop at “we’ll be in touch”. Nobody can quote that — not an AI, and not the customer deciding between you and two other quotes.

  2. Differentiation

What do you refuse to do that others in your industry do?

The fastest way to get described accurately is to publish what you are not. Most businesses have never written this down anywhere.

  3. Fit & Logistics

What types of customers or projects are you the BEST fit for? And which are you not?

Answer it and the tools stop putting you in front of people whose work you would turn down.

The part your developer will care about

Everything above is deliberately jargon-free. This is the same argument with the mechanics left in.

FAQPage structured data

Marking questions and answers up as FAQPage schema hands a parser an unambiguous question-to-answer pair instead of leaving it to infer where an answer starts and stops inside a page of prose. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results for most sites, which is why a lot of people tore the markup out. It still does its other job: labelling the content for anything that reads it.

How retrieval decides what to quote

An assistant answering a question about your business retrieves a handful of passages and leans on the ones that stand on their own. A passage that settles the question by itself — with the number, the timeframe, the boundary — survives that selection. One that only makes sense after the paragraph above it does not.

Why “contact us for details” returns nothing

It is a grammatical sentence and a dead end. There is no fact in it to repeat, so a model either leaves your business out of the answer or fills the gap from somewhere else — a directory listing, an old review, a competitor’s comparison page. Publishing the number is how you stay the source.

One page beats five

Answers scattered across three service pages, a blog post, and a downloadable brochure are three retrieval problems. One FAQ page, one heading per question, one self-contained answer under each, is one.

About the download

An FAQ page for the FAQ checklist. It would be strange not to have one.

What exactly do I get?
A three-page PDF: 25 questions grouped into 7 categories, the writing rules that make an answer quotable, and a short checklist for setting the page up. No course, no upsell.
How is it delivered?
By email, to the address you enter. The message contains a direct link to the PDF on this site. It usually arrives within a minute.
Will you email me again after this?
Occasionally — notes on getting found by AI tools, and the odd thing worth reading. Not daily, and not a sequence of pitches. Every one carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can reply to any of them asking to be removed.
Do I need a developer to use it?
No. The questions and the writing rules are plain English and you can add the answers to any website yourself. The page-setup section is the part a developer can take off your hands.
